Summer Baby Favorites!

Summertime with a baby can be SO much fun. But there are tricky things, too—like bug bites and sunburns and heat to manage. Here’s a round-up of our tried-and-true favorite products that help baby AND mama survive and thrive all summer long.

The Best Swim Diapers

Disposable swim diapers don’t absorb anything, and they can irritate your baby’s skin. But Swim Cloth Diapers actually do absorb, and they are soft, comfortable, and breathable. As a side note: I don’t normally use cloth diapers for day-to-day, but for swimming, cloth diapers win hands-down. This is my all-time favorite brand of swim cloth diapers—and for this price and adorable pattern options, you can’t beat it! You can also grab a little pack of wet dry bags to store dirty diapers in – and toss the whole thing in the wash.

Baby Sunscreen

Baby skin burns really fast. Sunscreen is a must, but a lot of brands get SO messy. I absolutely love this Hello Bello sunscreen. It comes in a roll-on tube, isn’t smelly or messy, doesn’t get in your baby’s eyes, and actually stays on during swimming and other activities. Confession: I love it so much, I actually use it on my own face, too.

Swimming Fish Toy

This viral fish toy lives up to the hype! It is so realistic, and babies + other kiddos have tons of fun splashing around with it. It’s so much better for babies than the toys that just sink to the bottom. Definitely one to pop into your pool bag. (Fun for baths, too)

Baby Sunglasses

If you plan to be out in the sun for long periods of time, or near water where the sun reflects into eyes, baby sunglasses help keep your little ones comfortable and safe. It’s hard to find a good pair, though. The glasses from COCOSAND are actually comfortable and bendable…which means your baby will tolerate them and they will literally never break!

TYR Goggles

I found this brand of goggles when my toddler took swimming lessons, and I have NEVER gone back. They are by far the best goggles and the only ones I will ever buy. Why? Because they are comfortable and completely leakproof (no water in the eyes!). Because of the quality, I thought they’d be super expensive. But shockingly, they are very reasonably priced. You’ll thank me later!

Sunscreen Applicator

Speaking of thanking me later…this sunscreen applicator is a Godsend. Wrangling kids to put sunscreen on them does not put me in a sunny state of mind. This applicator makes it so much easier to apply the sunscreen without so much fuss or mess.

Boon Breastmilk Chiller

While the Nestberry pitcher is perfect for home, work, and even on the go…when things get HOT during the summer, you might want some extra chill for your breastmilk while out of the house at the pool. This chiller from Boon keeps milk cold for up to 17 hours. It’s also a reasonable price, unlike others on the market.

Rubber Tote

Okay, this one’s for mama. Hauling around snacks and drinks and all the things in a dusty cloth tote just doesn’t cut it. I’m obsessed with rubber totes because they are so easy to clean, and this one from Simply Southern gives you the quality without costing a fortune (unlike other brands). It holds A TON and comes in super cute colors. Easy to wipe clean, doesn’t stain, keeps things organized—win, win.

Baby Insect Repellent

This goes without saying—you need an insect repellent that’s safe for baby. California Baby is my favorite repellent brand. It smells good and actually works. The safe ingredients give me peace of mind that I’m not putting toxic stuff onto my baby’s skin.

Pop Up Sun Shade

Park, beach, pool, backyard…this pop-up shade goes everywhere with us. It’s easy to set up and is a great place for your baby to take a break during nap time or play time, so they don’t overheat. It also keeps them away from ants and other bugs and dirt on the ground. We love it!

Portable Fan

I love that this portable fan has a battery option…because let’s face it, sometimes I forget to charge things. It’s nice to have the option to charge with a USB cord or batteries for backup. The fan wraps easily around a stroller and will also sit upright, depending on how you flex the legs. I like to point this at myself if I’m pumping in the heat—and then use it to keep my baby cool while we are outside.

Baby Popsicle Set

These baby popsicle molds are awesome. They give your baby a cool treat—which is great for hot days and teething. You can freeze just breastmilk…or add in chunks of fruit, depending on your baby’s age and preferences. This set has great reviews, a fantastic price, and the mold has plenty of slots so you can make multiple popsicle inserts at a time.

Happy Summer!
